Certificate Program

Program Total Number of Credits: 66

The purpose of  the Certificate Program is to aid current and future ministers in enhancing  their academic development  prior to obtaining a Master's Degree. This program also serves as a conduit for those seeking to expand their theological education and go from the certificate program to any CHMTS Master's Degree program (with the exception of the ThM and MACMHC).


Required Courses


Area I: Biblical Studies, 15 credits

  • NT 101 Introduction to New Testament (3 Credits)

  • OT 101 Introduction to Old Testament (3 Credits)

  • BI 200  Introduction to Biblical Hermeneutics (3 Credits)

  • OT XXX Old Testament Book Study (3 Credits)

  • NT XXX New Testament Book Study (3 Credits)


Area II: Theological and Historical Studies, 15 credits

  • CH 101 Introduction to the History of the Christian Church (3 Credits)

  • CH 200 Church of God History and Polity* (or CH 350) (3 Credits)

  • CH 350 History of the Hispanic Church of God in the U.S.* (or CH 200)  (3 Credits)

  • TS 100 Introduction to Christian Doctrine  (3 Credits)

  • TS 101 Roots of Pentecostal Spirituality  (3 Credits)

  • TS 202 Introduction to Wesleyan-Pentecostal Theology (3 Credits)


Area III: Pastoral Ministry, 18 credits

  • PM 100 Pastoral & Educational Ministry to the Immigrants in the U.S. (3 Credits)

  • PM 110 Foundations for World Mission & Evangelism (3 Credits)

  • PM 201 Liturgy & Pentecostal Ministry (3 Credits)

  • PM 301 Ministry of the Word* (or PM 302) (3 Credits)

  • PM 302 Christian Education Strategies & Techniques (or PM 301) (3 Credits)

  • PM 310 Foundations for Pastoral Counseling (3 Credits)

  • PM 350 Capstone Project (3 Credits)

Area V: General Education, 15 credits

  • MR 101 Applied Theology, Research & Writing (3 Credits) 

  • MR 102 Introduction to Philosophy and Critical Thinking (3 Credits)

  • MR 231 Fundraising, Budgeting & Financial Management (3 Credits) 

  • MR 234 Anthropology for Christianity* (or MR 332) (3 Credits)

  • MR 300 Behavioral Science (3 Credits)

  • MR 332 Christian Ethics-A Pentecostal Approach for Christian Social Action (or MR 234) (3 Credits)
